Welcome to the West End Village Society
(WEVS)

West End Village lies between Lightwater, Bisley and Chobham in the Borough of Surrey Heath, Surrey, UK.
Founded in 1973, WEVS is our residents’ association, open to all who live in West End and interested parties.
Annual membership subscriptions from local households fund the Society, which offers events and activities usually open to all residents of West End and surrounding areas.

Our Aims

As our Constitution states, the West End Village Society aims to work with residents, organisations and businesses in order to:
a) promote civic pride and community affairs in West End.
b) promote high standards of planning and architecture in or affecting West End.
c) inform residents about the geography, environment, history, natural history, and architecture of West End.
d) secure the preservation, protection, development and improvement of features of historic, natural, environmental or other public interest in West End.
e) organise, participate in, or sponsor social events and events of general interest within West End.
f) liaise with the local authorities, planning committees, and all other statutory authorities, voluntary organisations, charities and persons to promote the aims of the Society.
g) raise funds and to invite and receive contributions from any person or persons whatsoever by way of subscription, donation or otherwise; provided that the Society shall not undertake any permanent trading activities in raising funds for its primary purpose.
h) make awards of financial support to groups or projects within West End that are of benefit to the residents of West End.
i) organise meetings, publications, lectures, exhibitions and publicity to pursue the above aims and objectives.

Over the 51 years of our existence, WEVS and the community worked together to provide:
– 3x newsletters per year
– The Stag project
– Tens of thousands of daffodils
– The Village orchard
– Numerous walks and TED talks
– Created new footpaths and installed benches
– Village Design Statement and planning input
– Displays of historical photos and documents
